A trailer enquiry should explain what will be moved and how the work will be carried out. A generic size label or a photograph does not define the complete requirement. Describe the actual materials, route and tractor so the appropriate technical supplier can assess the combination.
Start with the material and route
Record the material, its form and the usual pickup and delivery points. Provide measured quantities where available and identify estimates. Explain how loading and unloading are intended to take place and which equipment or provider is responsible.
Do not infer a permitted load from body volume alone. Ask for the relevant rated information and its conditions for the actual trailer and tractor arrangement.
Ask for a defined trailer proposal
- Exact model and configuration.
- Rated information supported by the manufacturer’s documentation.
- Towing, braking and hydraulic requirements as applicable.
- Loading and unloading arrangements needing assessment.
- Dimensions and access requirements for the proposed route.
Keep any public-road requirements with the appropriate local authority or qualified adviser. A farm transport enquiry does not automatically establish road-use compliance.
Review the complete supply scope
Ask which accessories, connections and instructions are included. Confirm the technical match to the actual tractor and retain the response with the equipment record. Qualified personnel should assess setup and operation against the applicable guidance.
For example, moving bagged goods and unloading loose material can raise different handling questions even when the route is the same. Describe both duties if both are intended. This checklist prepares a quotation request; it does not approve a load, prescribe tipping practice or guarantee suitability for an unassessed tractor, site or road.
